Nov. 29, 2016
Dear GKE Families,
We hope you had a nice Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends! Now we only have 3 weeks and Christmas will be here! As the saying goes….time is flying by! We have almost finished the first semester!
We have been busy at GKE during the months of October and November. We completed our Literacy and Math Parent Nights, and teachers worked to finish parent conferences. We collected food for Kenly Area Ministries (KAM). Thanks to you, our school made a HUGE donation that was picked up on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Your donations will help many families in the Kenly area have good meals during the holidays. What a blessing that is! Thank you!
We also completed the PTA Krispy Kreme fundraiser! Our school sold 537 Krispy Kreme cards, profiting nearly $4,000. AMAZING!!!! PTA president, Emily Lawhorn, said Krispy Kreme had never had such a strong fundraiser before! We also had two Spirit Nights at Kenly 95 Petro and Chick-fil-A. Altogether, we now have $4,600 to purchase playground equipment for the classes. Our PE teacher, Samantha Barnes, is working to create “playground bags” for classes that will be filled with all types of balls, jump ropes, and other equipment for the students to use at recess. We are so thankful for your support of our school! Please JOIN the PTA if you haven’t already. We currently have 236 members and we earned our Gold Key award for increasing our memberships. The cost to join is $5 and the membership form is found on our Parent Board across from the office. Our next PTA meeting will be December 6. The PTA will be selling drinks, popcorn, and candy bars at the meeting. We will also have a 50/50 cash raffle at the meeting. THANKS to our PTA officers and committee members who help our school as well! If you want to help our PTA, please email them at email@example.com.
